The Bodo Literary Society is one of the prominent tribal societies in Cotton University (erstwhile Cotton College), established in 1987. BLS was established with the objective of uniting the Bodo students of the university and to inculcate a feeling of solidarity, pride of culture, and development in the intellectual field.
The society also aims at giving a forum for the Bodo community to showcase and promote their rich cultural heritage and traditions while, at the same time, positively contributing to the educational and social environment within Cotton University. BLS has undoubtedly made a great impact in empowering the Bodo community of Cotton University.
With these numbers of endeavors, the society has played a large role in attainment for educational and cultural enrichment among members by nurturing a sense of identity and self-esteem within the Bodo students. Its community service and cultural promotion activities have also contributed to bridging gaps and creating inclusiveness within the university. Prime Objectives
Our Goals
- Cultural Preservation: BLS is committed to the preservation and dissemination of Bodo language, literature, and culture. The society also envisages different activities and projects for the imbuing and revitalizing of the cultural heritage of the Bodos.
- Intellectual Development: Society promotes several intellectual development engagements and learning. The programs include seminars, lectures, and discussions on subjects related to literature, languages, and career development.
- Community Service/Outreach: BLS is engaged in various community service and outreach programs where the society brings positive changes to educational resources and supports the students in need to help create a sense of solidarity among the Bodo people.
- Cultural Promotion: One of the prime agendas for the existence of this society is the promotion of cultural identity amongst the Bodos. Through the arrangement of different forms of cultural events or performances, BLS plays a significant role in promoting the enriched, unique cultural heritage of the Bodos.
